I bought the DA O Ultimate Edition through Steam a year ago, in December 2012, but I've been unable to access ANY of the DLC for the last year.Under the 'Download Progress' Tab in Downloadable content, every item of DLC is listed. But NONE of it will install. Every attempt to install any of the DLC results in an 'Install Failed' message. Under the 'Details' panel for each piece of LDC, the Version numbers are listed in Red. But I know for a fact that my version of the game (Steam, DA O Ultimate Ed) is v1.05, so the game cannot possibly be out of date.Could it be that its just not recognising that it's v1.5?A year ago, I tried to fix this problem by following all the myriad solutions on the internet, Steam forums, Bioware forums, EA Answers HQ and youtube but nothing worked. I cannot find any solution that seems to be specific to my problem.
I gave up, uninstalled DA O and got on with my life, playing other games that havn't given me a fraction of the hassle DA O has. Now, 11 months later I've decided to try again, but STILL none of the 'solutions' I found will work. I posted a thread here on Answers HQ a year ago asking for help with this problem, but over a year has passed and STILL I have received no answer. Is the Steam version of DA:O Ultimate Ed. Simply unsupported now?
Am I being punished for buying the game on Steam instead of Origin? The AHQ is for 'player-to-player' technical self-help and game-play discussion. We're all just fellow gamers, doin' the best we can.Presuming that you had registered the game to begin with, you should be able to get 'official support' from the EA Game Advisors through the. They are the only ones who can peek under the covers at your account and see what's going on.Explain your situation and they can verify your account and help you get your game working.(NOTE: It may require a full download and re-install through EA/Origin.)Let us know what happens.Good Luck!
No, that's not what I'm saying. What I'm saying is that the DLC should already be installed. If my memory serves me right, there just is a button called New Game: Whistleblower on the game's main menu. Just like in this Google image:I got Whistleblower from Humble Bundle too, but I played it far before that (as I just removed the base game from my library temporarily; and got the game and the DLC shared from a relative of mine.) Point of this being, it's been a long time since I played it. I had Outlast years before getting the DLC, so they didn't install together. I figured it out, had to uninstall the game and reinstall. No other method worked. Originally posted by:Check if it is shown on the library page of your game.If it isn't but you activated the key, contact support. If it is, check if it is shown as installed on the library page of your game.If it isn't, restart steam or right click on the game, -properties - local files - verify game files OR check the box (or unche and recheck) 'installed' for the DLC.If it is. The DLC is already installed.
That's what I was saying, that in the library section it said I had it but it was uninstalled, and no matter what I do I can NEVER get it to install DLC for any game I play. I have to uninstall the game and reinstall if I want the DLC regardless of what game it is.
I've downloaded DLC for Civ V (Vanilla) as I wanted to play the extra scenarios (think it's pretty shocking that the game only came with one, Civ IV had plenty plus a decent world map etc etc). I've downloaded DLC but I end up with two zipped folders called 'Assets' and 'Resources'. I'm not sure where to put them, i've tried putting them in 'My Games/mods' area, and also in the Steam folder but nothing extra appears in the options in mods or scenarios when i run the game. Any help greatly appreciated.

I personally download games to try them and see if they're worth buying if they don't have a PC demo, like they seem to be doing a lot these days (coughdeadspace2cough). However, if you want to play all the DLC this badly then you clearly like the game enough to buy it. Don't be a dick, support the developers. @ShadowSkill11 said: ' @Knave said:' I know how to install one. I just take all the folders and put them in my Borderlands directory. 'It isn't an issue as long as you didn't pirate the DLC. Steam automatically installs the DLC. Besides, if you do choose to pirate software because you are poor or just an ass and aren't smart enough to get it working yourself you have no business pirating in the first place. 'If he's too poor to buy the DLC, then he wouldn't have paid money for it in the first place, and thus they haven't lost a sale.

A case could be made that he will eventually be playing it and therefore should be paying for it. Stealing is stealing. Just because it's not technically a lost sale on Steam's part, doesn't mean they're not being stolen from. Fucking seriously.
This pirating shit pisses me off. People excuse it with every reason in the book, but can never offer up a counter to the simple fact it's straight-up robbery. @LordAssinhiemr said: ' @BigLemon said:' @ShadowSkill11 said:' @Knave said:' I know how to install one. Explain to me how it's robbery. Robbery is if i steal your car and now you don't have the car anymore. Pirating is making a facsimile.

Whether it is taking my car or pirating a game that was made to make a profit, it is stealing. The problem with people who defend pirating is they tend to think the product must be tangible in order for it to be considered stolen. It drives me crazy.
Why don't you go ask a developer about how they feel. I'm sure they'll be buying you dinner afterward too. @LordAssinhiemr said: ' @BigLemon said:' @wrathofconn: But it's not the same. Look, I don't pirate games or steal, but the two concepts are distinct. 'In activity but not in results.

If the physical copy of a game was the expensive part, games would be much cheaper on Steam than at retail, but it would still be fucking stealing to pirate them. I think sufficient case has been stated here for this being piracy, considering that Steam handles DLC installation automatically and the retail DLC boxes should have installers. That leaves me no choice but to bring up the. NO discussion of illegal activities. Use of illegal drugs and substances. Circumvention of copy protection or security systems.
Sources and use of illegally obtained material or intellectual property (theft or piracy). In short, if you're pirating or doing anything illegal, don't bring it up here on the forums, for crying out loud. Discussions on the merits or reasoning behind piracy are a tired topic, but they're sometimes allowable. That said, I'm going to cap off the little discussion in here by reminding certain people that software developers have a right to be compensated for their work, even if the goods they're selling are digital and easily to replicate. It may not exist in a tangible form, but that doesn't mean it's OK to rationalize what is still bloody theft. I was just beaten to this point while typing it out, but I'm leaving it in, anyways. Now I'm going to click a button and lock this thread.
